Dr Yu (Jack) Gong is an Associate Professor,Director of CORMSIS Business Liaison (China) at Southampton Business School, the University of Southampton. His main research interests are sustainability and supply chain innovation. He has a track record of engaging multinational companies in research such as IKEA, Nestle, and Tetra Pak. He serves as an associate editor of Journal of Computer Information Systems, editorial board member of Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, guest editor of International Journal of Operations and Production Management and International Journal of Production Research.

 【报告摘要】

Blockchain technology (BCT) shows tremendous potential in tackling the recycling crisis. However, much of the current debate remains conceptual and lacks empirical evidence. This lecture is motivated to explore BCT applications in recycling chains through a multiple-case study approach. By applying the organizational information processing theory, we found that BCT offers information processing capabilities of immutability, integration, transparency, and trust to tackle recycling chain-specific uncertainties. Also, boundary objects play the knowledge integration role to engage multi-tier stakeholders and facilitate applications. It enriches the research on recycling chains and expands on empirical research on BCT. The pioneering exemplars showcase the latest practices with insightful implications.
